The assistant election officers for the central and east zone have been replaced after their they tested positive for Covid19 infection
Coimbatore: New Assistant Election Officers for Central and East Zone appointed after their predecessors were diagnosed with Covid.
The Central Zone Assistant Commissioner Shankar and East Zone Assistant Commissioner Marichselvi are undergoing treatment for Covid19, and subsequently, election officers have been replaced for these respective zones.
Raja Gopal Sunkara, the Corporation Commissioner, Returning Officer has appointed alternate officers in place of Shankar and Marichelvi.
Kanagu Sundararajan has now been appointed as the Election Officer for the central zone and will be handling wards 62, 63, 64, 65, and 84, previously appointed for Assistant Commissioner Shankar. Similarly, Assistant Town Planning Officer Vimala has been appointed for wards 7, 22, 24, 54, and 59 reserved by Assistant Commissioner Marichelvi.
Coimbatore Corporation has 100 wards out of which 20 Assistant Election Officers have been appointed at the rate of one for 5 wards each. The nomination process began Friday. Since the coalition talks are not yet possible, only those who want to contest the ward quota have obtained the application form.
Not a single candidate filed their nomination on Friday.
