Coimbatore: The police are on the hunt for the person (s) who abducted the lamp, ‘kuthuvilakku’ from the Ayyappan temple in Kovaipudur, worth ₹ 45 thousand.
The priest at the Ayyappan Temple near College Junction was shocked to find the temple door broken open Saturday morning and a ₹45,000 worth lamp, ‘Kuthuvilakku’ missing from the temple. Reportedly the priest left the temple on Friday after finishing his regular puja at the temple.
The lamp weighing about 75 kg had been stolen from the temple. He immediately informed Prabhakaran, the administrative trustee of the temple.
After filing a complaint with the Kuniyamuttur police station, police have registered a case and are searching for the robber (s).
