Salem: ‘Election King’ Padmarajan filed his nomination to contest in Veerakkal Pudur area in Salem for 227th time, for the local polls.
K Padmarajan, a homeopathic doctor turned businessman has filed his nomination papers to contest for the post of Second Ward Councillor of Veerakkalpudur Town Panchayat. This is reportedly his 227th nomination.
Padmarajan, (62), is a native of Mettur, Salem district. He contested in the assembly elections in 1986 as an independent candidate from Mettur constituency and contested several subsequent elections and has over the years gained popularity as, 'Election King'.
He rose to fame at the national level after contesting as an independent from Lucknow constituency in Uttar Pradesh against ex-PM Vajpayee and Nandiyal constituency in Andhra Pradesh against former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao.
He has been a regular contender for elections and has filed nominations for various posts since 1988, including local body elections, MLA, MP, and President. So far, he has filed nominations for various posts 226 times. He has been featured in the Guinness and LIMCA Book of Records
