The Tamil Nadu Electricity, Prohibition and Excise Minister, Senthil Balaji’s car was blocked by numerous members of DMK questioning the allotment of seats to candidates from alliance parties and not for DMK candidates
Coimbatore: The members of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), blocked Minister Senthil Balaji’s vehicle stating irregularities in seat allotment in the wards 18 and 54 for the forthcoming urban local body elections.
The vehicle of Minister Senthil Balaji was blocked in protest against the irregularities in the selection of candidates in wards 18 and 54 of Coimbatore Corporation and condemned issue of seats to the allies without prioritizing DMK.
Tamil Nadu Electricity, Prohibition and Excise Minister Senthil Balaji was in Coimbatore on Sunday to inaugurate the newly installed medical equipment at a private hospital in Avinashi Road. On his way back from the event, his car was intercepted by the DMK members. The DMK cadre who had gathered at all the three gates of the hospital waiting to storm the minister's vehicle were stopped by the police officer
They condemned the allocation of seats to a candidate of a party who is in alliance with the DMK in ward no.54. The DMK functionaries added that however, they did not receive any reply as the Minister left leaving their questions unanswered.
The incident has raised eyebrows, as members of the party raised issues against the decision taken by the party they belong to.
