Assistant Election Officers have been receiving nominations in eight places including the City Corporation office.
Tirupur: Filing of nominations for urban local body elections began in Tirupur, on Friday.
The urban local body elections are to be held on February 19, with the filing of nominations kick-starting on Friday, January 28. The nominations are being received by the Assistant Election Officers at eight locations including the Corporation office, for the 60 wards in Tirupur.
Various politicians eagerly visited the Corporation Office on Friday which is the first day of filing nominations, to get nomination forms.
Due to the implementation of Covid prevention regulations, sanitizers were given to those arriving at the Corporation Office and were allowed in only after checking the body temperature.
In addition, surveillance cameras have been installed at all eight locations where nomination papers are being received and inspected at the Corporation Office in Tirupur, in the pthe resence of the Corporation Commissioner and Election Officer, Kranthi Kumar.
