The State Election Commission has announced that the urban local body elections in Tamil Nadu will be held in a single phase on 19th of February. The nomination process for the same begins on Friday.
Urban local body elections will be held for a total of 12,838 posts viz., 1,374 ward seats in 21 corporations, 3,843 ward seats in 138 municipalities and 7,621 ward seats in 490 Town Panchayats.
The Coimbatore Corporation will have direct elections for 100 ward councillors. The nomination for the same will be received starting Friday. Nominations can be filed in 20 constituencies.
In the North Zone, nominations can be filed at the Assistant Commissioner’s room for Ward 13, 18, 19, 29 and 30, for Ward 1, 2, 3, 14 and 15 candidates can file nominations in the Administrative Officer's Room and Ward 4, 10, 11, 12 and 21 candidates can file their nominations in the Zonal Health Officer's Room, Ward 20, 25, 26, 27 and 28 candidates can submit nominations in the Ward Committee Chairman's Room.
In the East Zone, nominations can be filed for Wards 5, 6, 8, 9 and 22 by candidates in the Assistant Executive Engineer's Room, for Wards 55, 56, 57, 58 and 61 they can be filed in the Zonal Health Officer's Room, for Wards 7, 23, 24, 54 and 59 nominations can be filed in the Assistant Commissioner's Room and for Wards 50, 51, 52, 53 and 60 nominations can be filed in the Ward Committee Chairman's Room.
In the South zone, nominations for Wards 87, 88, 89, 90 and 91 can be filed in the Assistant Commissioner's Room, for Wards 92, 93, 94, 95 and 97 they can be filed in the Administrative Officer's Room, for Wards 76, 77, 78, 79 and 86 nominations can be filed in the Assistant Executive Engineer's Room and for Wards 85, 96, 98, 99 and 100 they can be filed in the Ward Committee Chairman's Room.
Nominations for 71, 72, 73, 74 and 75 Wards can be filed in the Assistant Commissioner's Room in Western Region, Wards 36, 42, 43, 44 and 45 nominations can be filed in the Assistant Executive Engineer's Room, Wards 37, 38, 39, 40 and 42 can file nominations in the Zonal Health Officer's Room and Wards 16, 17, 33, 34 and 35 can file nominations in the Ward Committee Chairman's Room.
Candidates in Wards 62, 63, 64, 65 and 84 can file nominations in the Assistant Commissioner's Room in the Central Region, candidates in Wards 48, 49, 67, 68 and 70 can file nominations in the Administrative Officer's Room and those in Wards 66, 80, 81, 82 and 83 can submit nominations in the Ward Committee Chairman's Room.
District election officer Raja Gopal Sunkara said that those belonging to Wards 31, 32, 46, 47 and 69 can file their nomination papers at Tatabad engineering division office in Coimbatore.

In the South zone, nominations for Wards 87, 88, 89, 90 and 91 can be filed in the Assistant Commissioner's Room, for Wards 92, 93, 94, 95 and 97 they can be filed in the Administrative Officer's Room, for Wards 76, 77, 78, 79 and 86 nominations can be filed in the Assistant Executive Engineer's Room and for Wards 85, 96, 98, 99 and 100 they can be filed in the Ward Committee Chairman's Room.
Nominations for 71, 72, 73, 74 and 75 Wards can be filed in the Assistant Commissioner's Room in Western Region, Wards 36, 42, 43, 44 and 45 nominations can be filed in the Assistant Executive Engineer's Room, Wards 37, 38, 39, 40 and 42 can file nominations in the Zonal Health Officer's Room and Wards 16, 17, 33, 34 and 35 can file nominations in the Ward Committee Chairman's Room.
Candidates in Wards 62, 63, 64, 65 and 84 can file nominations in the Assistant Commissioner's Room in the Central Region, candidates in Wards 48, 49, 67, 68 and 70 can file nominations in the Administrative Officer's Room and those in Wards 66, 80, 81, 82 and 83 can submit nominations in the Ward Committee Chairman's Room.
