The Tamil Nadu State Election Commission has issued standard guidelines for urban local elections. The Commissioner of Corporations and the Returning Officer issued a notice regarding the general guidelines.
Coimbatore: According to the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission, the polling for the 2022 urban local body elections will be held on 19.02.2022 and the process of counting will be held on 22.02.2022.
Based on this, the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission has issued standard guidelines for urban local government elections.
This was stated by the Commissioner of the Corporation and the Returning Officer. The guidelines are as follows:-
General guidelines: Every person must wear a mask during every election-related activity. Everyone should be subjected to thermal scanning soap or sanitizer must be used before entering rooms, halls and premises used for election related activities.
The State Government and the Ministry of Home Affairs are required to maintain 6-feet of social space as per the guidelines. Larger halls should be identified and used for dot-related activities and large crowds should be avoided.
Nomination:-
The rooms of the Returning Officer / Assistant Returning Officer are disinfected daily before the filing of nominations. Up to two vehicles will be allowed when the candidate arrives for the nomination.
The room of the Returning Officer should follow the social gap for tasks such as nomination, review and symbol allocation. Large rooms have been arranged for the candidates to wait.
The candidate or a nominee should maintain a proper social space (2 m / 6 ft) inside the waiting room outside the office of the Returning Officer when filing the nomination. The candidate or the nominee will be allowed to enter the room of the Returning Officer.
The next candidate will be allowed to enter only after the first candidate has exited. To enter the room of the Returning Officer tokens with the stipulated time will be issued to all candidates.
Only those who enter the office of the Returning Officer before the stipulated time will be allowed to submit nominations. Covid positive patients should submit nominations only through his / her nominee Candidates should wash their hands with soap and use sanitizer before entering the office of the Returning Officer.
Masks and gloves must be worn. Further, complaints / doubts related to the Urban Local Government Elections can be directed to the Election Control Room of Coimbatore Corporation on 0422-2300132, Raja Gopal Sunkara, Commissioner and Returning Officer of the Corporation, conveyed through a press release.
