Coimbatore: In Coimbatore district, 41 polling officers and 110 assistant polling officers have been appointed for the urban local body elections. At a rate of 4 polling officers per polling station about 10,172 officers will be involved in the polling process.
Coimbatore District Collector Sameeran said 'According to the election notification of the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission, the schedule for the urban local government elections has been released. Accordingly, the receipt of nominations will be received on the 28th from 10 am to 5 pm.'
'The deadline for filing nominations is the 4th of next month. Examination of nominations will take place on the 5th of next month. Withdrawal of nominations is scheduled to take place on the 7th of next month. 19th of next month is polling day and votes can be cast from 7 am to 6 pm.'
'Only those with corona symptoms and those affected will be allowed to vote for the last one hour from 5 to 6 p.m. Votes will be counted on the 22nd of next month. The first meeting of the elected ward members is 2nd of March the same is the day of the inauguration.'
'In Coimbatore district, elections will be held in a single phase for a total of 41 urban local bodies, including 1 corporation, 7 municipalities and 33 municipalities. There will be 1,290 polling stations for Coimbatore, 390 polling stations for 7 municipalities and 632 polling stations for 33 municipalities with a total of 2,312 polling stations. 41 Returning Officers and 110 Assistant Returning Officers have been appointed for this election. At a rate of 4 polling officers per polling station about 10,172 officers will be involved in the polling process.'
'Model code of conduct has come into force in Tamil Nadu. Political parties and candidates must therefore co-operate in all possible ways to ensure that the election is conducted in a peaceful, free and secure manner in accordance with the Code of Conduct for Elections and the corona prevention guidelines must be adhered to.'
