Coimbatore: The city police are looking for the persons who looted over a sovereign of gold and an LED television from the house of bank employee.
Hariprasad, 31, son of Sundaram, lives in Kuppanur, Madhampatti, next to Perur. He works as the Assistant Manager in a private bank in the Gandhipuram area of Coimbatore.
Reportedly, Hariprasad had left for Chennai a month ago due to office work. His parents who stayed at the house here left to Hariprasad’s home in Chennai for Pongal Festival.
Hariprasad rushed back to Coimbatore upon Thangavel’s, his neighbor, information on his house door left open. Gold jewellery worth over one sovereign and an LED TV in the house was looted.
Hariprasad then lodged a complaint with Perur police station. Police have registered a case on the complaint and are investigating.
In a similar incident, police arrested Sudalai Kannan for stealing 20 sovereigns of gold jewellery from an engineer's house in Singanallur. The case was first registered for the missing 29 sovereigns of gold, however, the complainant's wife had in her possession, 9 sovereigns, which was revealed in the investigation.
Similarly, a 53-year-old man living next door had reported a theft of 3 sovereigns of gold jewellery. Police investigations revealed that this was bogus, after which the man was issued a warning.
