The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister unveiled the statue of Dr. Ambedkar in the Paneerselvam Park area in Erode, the first in the western district, for which the Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam thanked the CM.
Erode: The life-size statue of Dr. Ambedkar has been installed in Erode, which was unveiled on Wednesday by the TN Chief Minister MK Stalin through video conferencing.
The Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam General Secretary, K Ramakrishnan thanked Chief Minister MK Stalin for installing a statue of Dr. Ambedkar in Erode. The Periyar and Ambedkar organizations have been demanding the government for a long time for the installation of life-sized statues of Dr. Ambedkar. A life-sized bronze statue of revolutionary Dr. Ambedkar was not placed in any public places in the western districts, and this is the first-ever statue.
The Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam stated, “On behalf of The Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam, we would like to thank the Government of Tamil Nadu, the Hon’ble Chief Minister and the Hon’ble Minister for Housing, for installing the statue of Dr. Ambedkar, the first in the Western District. Thanks to the initiative taken by the Hon’ble Housing and Urban Development Minister Muthusamy.”
They demanded that the Government of Tamil Nadu should install a statue of the revolutionary Ambedkar in public places in all district headquarters in western districts. The Kazhagam members also requested the Chief Minister that the statue of Dr. Ambedkar be placed at the Semmozhi Park that will be established at the site belonging to the Prison Department opposite the Central Bus Stand at Nanjappa Road in Coimbatore.
