Coimbatore: The Indian National Flag was unfurled by the District Collector Sameeran on the occasion of 73rd Republic Day today.
With immense patriotism and fanfare, the 73rd Republic Day Celebrations is being held across the country and as a part, the celebrations is being held at the VOC ground in Coimbatore.
The District Collector GS Sameeran unfurled the national flag and received the parade honour.
The District Collector and District Superintendent of Police Selvanagarathinam let free tricolored balloons and white doves representing peace.
The Collector issued certificate of appreciation to 303 front line workers including the doctors, police personnel, government employees, teachers, sanitary workers and water supply board officials who put service above self during the coronavirus pandemic in Coimbatore district.
The cultural programs scheduled for school children have been cancelled this year due to corona outbreak. The celebrations are being telecast live on Facebook on behalf of the Coimbatore District Administration.
The Gram Sabha meetings, usually held on Republic Day, have also been cancelled due to corona outbreak this year.
