Tirupur: The Tirupur Baniyan Manufacturers and Association staged a protest in front of the corporation office demanding that the price of yarn has to be reduced. They also demanded that the endangered MSME sector has to be protected.
Yarn prices have continued to be ascendant over the past few months. The hosiery sector is facing trouble as their situations have worsened and various parties have been demanding that the Centre implements measures to control the price of yarn. Yarn is the prime raw material for production and the price rise has worried the industry.
As part of this, a protest was held in front of Tirupur Corporation on behalf of Tirupur Industrial Baniyan Manufacture and Association.
More than 50 participants raised slogans demanding action by the Centre to curb yarn prices and protect endangered small-scale industries.
