The Hindu Munnani along with BJP cadres staged demonstrations in the city stating that the Central Investigation Bureau has to take up the case of the 17-year old girl who ended her life by suicide after allegedly being forced by the school to convert her religion.
Coimbatore: The Hindu Munnani along with BJP cadres staged demonstrations in Coimbatore on Monday demanding CBI investigation of the Thanjavur girl's suicide issue.
17-year old, Lavanya, a Class 12 student at the Sacred Hearts Higher Secondary School in Michaelpatti near Thirukattupalli in Tanjore district ended her life by suicide, by consuming poison reportedly for forced religious conversion by the school. The suicide has triggered a stir across Tamil Nadu with Hindu organizations condemning the school's alleged forced conversion and crying hoarse on social media and staging protests as well.

The Hindu Munnani Katchi cadres staged a protest in Chinniyampalayam near Ganapathy, on Monday. More than 50 cadres participated in a protest demanding that the investigation be handed over to the CBI.

The agitators raised slogans demanding action against the school administration and a CBI inquiry.

The BJP and Hindu Munnani members staged demonstrations at various places in Coimbatore.
It may be recalled that the BJP National Women's Wing leader, Vanathi Srinivasan had demanded a CBI inquiry into the girl's suicide two days ago.
