Following the rejection of Tamil Nadu vehicle’s inclusion in Republic Day parade, all parties gathered here condemning the center’s move.
Coimbatore: All parties and movements came together here in the city in protest of the Centre’s denial of Tamil Nadu’s chariot for the Republic Day Parade.
It came as a shock when the Tamil Nadu government's vehicle, which was scheduled to participate in the Republic Day parade in Delhi on the occasion of Republic Day, was denied entry. The vehicle featured photographs of freedom pioneers from the Tamil state, including V.O.C. Velu Nachiyar.
Reports stated that the vehicle entry was denied stating the leaders were ‘unknown, non-recognizable to many people on a national front. Therefore, various parties and organizations have been condemning the move by the Centre.
As part of this, a protest was held on behalf of all parties and movements in front of the Coimbatore South Taluk Office. More than 20 participants carried photographs of Bharathiar, V.O. Chidambaram, Subhash Chandra Bose, Velu Nachiyar, and Narayana Guru and raised slogans condemning the Centre.
Various parties and movements including Social Justice Party, Viduthalai Siruthaigal and Dravidar Tamil Party participated.
