Coimbatore: The district administration’s flying squad has collected ₹ 95,200 from the public for violation of Covid safety guidelines. Of this, ₹ 57,600 has been imposed on those who do not wear masks and ₹ 37,600 for shops violating Covid safety norms.
The Corporation administration has directed the public to avoid gathering to control the spread of the third wave of Covid-19 and to strictly adhere to Covid-19 safety norms. However, with crowds flouting all norms, the Corporation formed 20 Flying Squads to monitor crowds and compliance of Covid regulations. Apart from this, committees have been constituted under the chairmanship of the Revenue Department and Police and various other departments to ensure adherence to Covid safety norms. These groups also impose fines on those who flout Covid prevention norms.
A Corporation official said, "Textile shops, commercial establishments and shops in Coimbatore should follow the guidelines of the Government. People should wear facial shields. Social distancing should be followed. Those who violate these rules are fined. A whopping total fine of ₹ 95,200 has been imposed in Corporation areas on a single day, on Monday.”
