Coimbatore: The Tamilnadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam has stated that the statue damage at the Trinity Church in Coimbatore is an act inducing anti-democracy and disturbing the communal harmony.
“The Tamilnadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam considers the damage of a statue of St. Sebastian by unknown persons at the Trinity Church in Ramanathapuram, as an act against Indian democracy.” stated the party members.
They added that the issue instigated by certain anti-social elements have been targeting to collapse the communal harmony and peace in Tamil Nadu, following the continued tension created in north India against sovereignty.
The party added that mishaps such as attacking minority places of worship, damaging idols and statues of progressive thinkers continue to occur in Coimbatore and urged that the police takes strict action against those involved.
TMMK sought the Government of Tamil Nadu to pay extra attention to Coimbatore.
