The prime accused involved in the theft posing as income tax official and cheating a stone quarry owner of cash and hard disk has surrendered at the court and the police are planning to file for custodial investigation.
Coimbatore: The prime accused involved in the cheating a stone quarry owner by posing as an official from the income tax department has surrendered in court in Pollachi.
Mathew, the prime accused involved in duping a stone quarry owner, Panchalingam, from Gandhinagar near Kinathukadavu has surrendered. A gang of men under the leadership of Mathew robbed several documents including Rs 15 lakh cash from house of the stone quarry owner. The incident occurred on the 15th.
Seven persons who were instrumental in the case, namely, Satish (36) Anand,(47), Ramaswamy (47), Thyagarajan (42) Praveen Kumar (36) Mohankumar (30), Manikandan (37), were booked and arrested by the Kinathukadavu police in the first phase and lodged in jail.
The main accused, Mathew of Coimbatore, and other namely, Karanampettai Maheshwaran, Kavundampalayam Faisal were absconding and the special team launched a search for them.

The prime accused in the case, Mathew (60), of Rathinapuri surrendered before the Pollachi JM2 Court on Monday. The judge ordered 15 days of judicial custody of Mathew.
The Kinathukadavu police will file a petition in the court requesting for police custody of Mathew as he is the prime accused in the case. The Kinathukadavu police are also actively searching for Maheshwaran and Faisal, who are absconding.
