Coimbatore: The local police are on the hunt for a gang that broke in and looted 29 sovereign gold jewelry and silver items from a house in Ondipudur.
Syed Ibrahim (30), a resident of the Senthil Janata Nagar area of Ondipudur 2nd Street in Coimbatore works as an Assistant Manager in a private company. Ibrahim had reportedly gone to Coonoor 10 days ago with his family to visit his ailing father-in-law.
On returning home early on Tuesday morning, Ibrahim was shocked to see the back door of his house broken into and was further shocked to find that 29 sovereigns of gold jewelry and silver items from his house were stolen.
Ibrahim immediately lodged a complaint with the Singanallur police station. Acting on a complaint, the police accompanied by fingerprint experts and sniffer dogs arrived at the spot and are conducting intensive investigations at neighbouring houses. The police are examining fingerprints taken from the stolen house by comparing them with those of old and recent criminals. Similarly, the police are also examining recordings on CCTV cameras on the street.
