First-time voters in Coimbatore comprising school students took a pledge under the guidance of the Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran on the occasion of National Voters Day.
Coimbatore: School students who were voting for the first time took a pledge under the guidance of the Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran at the District Collectorate on the occasion of National Voters Day.
"We Citizens of India will uphold the dignity of our country's democracy and the good, fair and peaceful electoral dignity of our country in every election, and without any fear and preconceived notions on race, caste or community, and without any other provocation."
School students and first-time voters took the oath as proposed by the District Collector.
Subsequently, students who won the essay competition and speech contest were awarded certificates on the occasion of Republic Day celebrations at the Government School in Coimbatore.
