The City Police department are having a run through of the parade as the Republic Day celebrations will be held on Wednesday at the VOC grounds.
Coimbatore: A run-through parade was held by the city police officers at VOC ground ahead of the Republic Day Celebrations to be held on Wednesday.
The Republic Day celebrations will be celebrated in Coimbatore on Wednesday at the VOC ground. On the occasion, every year, a flag hoisting ceremony is held on behalf of the district administration at the VOC Park ground.
At the function, the District Collector GS Sameeran will felicitate police officers, officials from various government departments with medals and certificates, for outstanding performance.
The Collector will also accept the police parade honour. As the function draws near, a parade rehearsal by the city police contingent was held at the VOC Ground.
With all other scheduled programs to take place, as planned, only the Republic Day cultural programmes have been cancelled as a preventive measure due to spread of corona virus.
About 2,000 police and home guards have been deployed in the district on the occasion of Republic Day, as part of security measure. Additionally, police will be on guard at the bus stands, railway station, airport, and public meeting road junctions.
