Coimbatore: The District Collector GS Sameeran inaugurated the Siddha Covid Care Centre, with 100 beds set up at the Government Engineering College premises on behalf of the District Siddha Medical Department.
A Covid Care Centre has been established on behalf of the District Siddha Medical Department at Government Engineering College in Thadagam Road. The Coimbatore District Collector Sameeran inaugurated the centre.
At present, 100 beds have been set up in the centre.
The Collector also inspected the Siddha medicines placed at the centre.
District Siddha Medical Department Officer Dhanam was also present. Highlighting that the Covid cases have now decreased in the city, the Collector pressed upon following the Covid guidelines, while addressing the reporters.
With more than 10,000 people diagnosed with an infection in the district, only 11 percent undergo treatments at the hospital while the rest are isolated in their homes. Over 15,000 beds are ready in government and private hospitals in Coimbatore and will be used if the need arises.
About 97.6% have been vaccinated with the first dose of vaccination. A fine of Rs 5, 53,000 has been collected from people who violated curfew here on Sunday. The caseload in Coimbatore is comparatively higher than Chennai. Industries in Pollachi and Sulur have been temporarily closed to contain the spread of infection in industrial areas.
The Collector said that the Republic Day celebrations will be held without the audience. As per the Chief Minister’s statement, the freedom fighters would be honoured by visiting their homes in Coimbatore as well.
