Pollachi: A total of ₹ 5.92-lakh fine has been imposed in Pollachi to date over violation of Covid-19 norms.

The Government of Tamil Nadu imposed night lockdown for week days and a full curfew on Sunday as a preventive measure in the wake of third wave since the 6th of January. Similarly, police has stepped up vigil at important places under Pollachi range on the orders of DSP Tamilmani and only essential vehicles including medical emergency are permitted to travel. Other road users who violate the ban are fined.
A total of ₹ 5.92-lakh fine was imposed on 1,271 persons for not without face masks, another 90 cases were registered and a fine of ₹ 45,000 was imposed at various places including commercial complexes for not maintaining social distancing and in addition, as many as 514 vehicles were booked and fine of ₹ 2,57,000 was imposed from those who ventured out without any valid reason, in violation of curfew norms.
Overall, a total of 1,875 cases have been registered by the police in Pollachi sub-division and a fine of ₹ 5,92,800 has been imposed, police said.
