Tirupur: A section of members of the Uzhavar Uzhaippalar Katchi (UUK) petitioned the Commissioner of the Tirupur Municipal Corporation demanding that the renovated Thennampalayam Market in Tirupur is upgraded with basic amenities and it is declared to the public.
The Thennampalayam Market in Tirupur has been renovated under Smart City Scheme. A large number of traders from different parts of the Tirupur district visit the market to procure wholesale purchases every day. Similarly, there are plenty of shops that sell retail produce and thus, it is always crowded.

Visiting the renovated daily market buildings, the Uzhavar Uzhaippalar Katchi Chief Chellamuthu said the waterlogged road has to be repaired and a concrete road should be constructed, washroom facilities should be provided as many visit the market. Thus, the buildings should be provided with lighting facility, electricity connection and must be declared for public use at the earliest.
