Coimbatore: The District Collector Sameeran stated that out of the total number of cases reported in Coimbatore, only 13 percent of the patients are undergoing treatment at hospitals.
The Tamil Nadu Minister for Electricity, Prohibition and Excise inaugurated the additional 200 beds set up at ESI Hospital, Singanallur, amid increasing number of coronavirus cases in Coimbatore. District Collector Sameeran also paid a personal visit and following that, the Collector headed to the covid-19 vaccine drive underway in the city. He checked with the doctors about the vaccine stock.
Talking to reporters, he said “There are 14,528 beds ready at government and private hospitals in Coimbatore to treat patients with the coronavirus infection. As of now, only 13 percent of the beds are occupied. About 176 micro-containment zones with large number of roads or houses have been identified in Coimbatore and medical testing camps are being conducted there.”
He said that the percentage of confirmed cases among the screened number is 19.7. The number of people returning home after recovery is increasing in comparison with those admitted for treatment. The number of infections is under control in the last one week. However, the district collector has advised that the public must take precautionary measures and the district administration is ready to face any situation.
