Coimbatore: Based on a tip-off received, the local police caught hold of a vehicle transporting banned tobacco substance to Kerala on Saturday.
The Kuniyamuthur Police seized 1,000-kg banned tobacco and the vehicle that was transporting the narcotics from Mysuru to Kerala via Coimbatore, after receiving a secret tip-off.
The police who conducted a vehicle check, stooped a tempo traveller registered in Kerala, and investigations revealed that banned substance was being smuggled to Kerala from Mysuru.
The driver, identified as Ibrahim (38), has been arrested and the police officers subsequently confiscated the banned substance and the vehicle.
