About 900 bulls participated in the competition, which ran from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
About 400 bull tamers from different districts took part in the competition and tamed the bulls.
In this contest, which was held from morning, various bulls and players participated with enthusiasm.
The bull tamers tamed the bulls. From time to time bull tamers quarrelled and the organising committee immediately dismissed participants who were involved in fights.
Mani, a BA English graduate from Kuruviththurai village in Madurai district, won a car as the first prize by taming 21 bulls. Following him, Prabhakaran from Madurai district won the prize by taming 19 bulls.
The third prize, was awarded to Karthik from Natham Taluk of Dindigul district. He was awarded a two-wheeler for taming 18 bulls. Minister Senthil Balaji, Coimbatore District Collector G.S. Sameeran and many DMK members congratulated the winners.
Speaking to reporters at the end of the program, Minister Senthil Balaji said that “Jallikkattu competitions are being held in Coimbatore district with various restrictions. Congratulations to all the winners and players. The tournament was held following all the prescribed coronavirus protocols. In the jallikkattu competition, various women also participated. Many congratulations to them.”
Following that, Mani, who won the first prize while speaking to the media said he was currently involved in agriculture and farming, and he said his aim is to get a government job. Prabhakaran, who won the second prize, in an interview said that Palamedu continues to be the number one favourite in Jallikattu and currently, he who is from the region finished at second place. Karthik said that he had won the third place in the Jallikkattu competition held in Coimbatore and this year too, he finished at third place. This winner sounded a tad disappointed when he went on record and said that he is yet to receive the motorbike promised last year as prize.
