Tirupur: An elderly woman working as a cleanliness worker was allegedly attacked by a man belonging to DMK after the duo had an argument over the woman’s goat creating disturbances.
Arukkani, a cleaner in Mangalam Panchayat in Tirupur district was abused and received a tight blow on her face after a DMK member picked up a fight with her.
Aukkani was near a shop in Agraharapudur area next to Mangalam on 17th, when Jiyavu, a DMK member and a restaurant owner of the same area, reportedly took a dig at her stating the goat Arukkani owned caused disturbances. He stated that he would someday kill the animal to prepare ‘biryani’ with it.
This led to an argument between the two. Jiyavu, who was under the influence of alcohol, abused the old woman, slapped her on the face, and left the place after warning her. The woman approached the District Collector’s office and filed a complaint on Friday seeking justice.
