Coimbatore: The AIADMK leader SP Velumani had demanded that the Tamil Nadu Government facilitates protection to the devotees who visit Palani-bound ‘Padayatra Pilgrims’ from Coimbatore.
The former minister S.P. Velumani issued a press release stating that the former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy had declared holiday for ‘Thaipusam’ and ensured that the devotees who marched in the nights, with glowing stickers on their hands, to avoid accidents, are safe. He reminded that water was provided to them.
He stated that the devotees from various districts including Coimbatore have gathered in large numbers in Palani and the government should take steps to prevent the occurrence of any untoward incident.
He said, “A large number of devotees visited Palani despite the ban and were denied entry into the temple for worship. Thus, they returned disheartened. The government has now permitted the devotees into the temples, and the government should take steps to ensure proper security.”
