Citizen’s Voice Coimbatore expressed happiness on the Coimbatore Corporation’s decision to reverse the parking charges announcement and have also shared certain ways through which the corporation can earn revenue
Coimbatore: Welcoming the corporation's decision to withdraw the parking charge scheme on major roads in the city, Citizens Voice Coimbatore has suggested ideas to the corporation administration through which the civic body can earn revenue in constructive ways.
C.M. Jayaraman, president of Citizens Voice Coimbatore, stated 'The Corporation's decision to withdraw the parking charge scheme on major roads in the city is welcoming. The Corporation can increase revenue it earns in various ways in a constructive manner.'
In a press note the following ideas were shared:-
1.Multi-level parking scheme can be implemented at Corporation-owned reserve sites in bus stand areas and various residential areas including Ram Nagar, Race Course, Saibaba Colony, etc.
2.Like Bangalore, a separate parking scheme can be implemented on behalf of the Corporation and charged monthly at half the fee levied by the private sector to avoid people parking outside residences due to lack of proper parking space.
3.The Corporation can earn better revenue through the scheme of regulating unauthorized lay-outs.
4.Multi-level parking can be implemented at the parks, walking areas established under the Smart City Scheme, as there is not enough space to park two-wheelers and four-wheelers in such places. This would also avoid traffic congestion on roads when people start using them fully in the future.
5.Special Concessions can be established to draw the outstanding property tax from commercial establishments, educational institutions, and hospitals that are pending in crores. This will enable the corporation administration to get the pending property tax dues that is in crores.
After sharing the ideas, it was suggested that the district administration makes use of the suggestions in the days to come.
