Coimbatore: The district sessions court judge granted conditional bail to three persons accused in gold robbery case in the city. The three men who reportedly robbed 2-kg of jewellery and ₹7.5-lakh in cash, walk free after being released on bail.
Shanmugam (50), from Vadavalli, is a jewellery maker who makes ornaments after purchasing gold bars in bulk. Shanmugam returned to Coimbatore on the 30th of October from Sathyamangalam in Erode district after purchasing gold bars.
After reaching the Gandhipuram bus stand, Shanmugam who was on his bike was ambushed by a mob and he was robbed of the 2-kg gold and ₹7.5-lakh cash near Vadavalli. The Vadavalli police investigated the case and arrested 10 persons.
Three of the ten, Bhavani Singh (23), who worked in the workshop, Sikander Batshah (35), and Samsuddin, (30), filed a petition in district sessions court seeking bail. The judge released the trio on conditional bail.
