Coimbatore: The police on Thursday, arrested the most wanted don, Black Babu, during vehicle check near Sirumugai-Mettupalayam Road after a filmy style dramatic chase.
Notorious rowdy, Babu alias Black Babu, (33), son of Muhammad Ali of Arivoli Nagar who was being searched by the Sirumugai police, has been nabbed during a vehicle search by the police officers. He was accused in a criminal case at Pethikkuttai near Sirumugai dated August 13 last year. Reportedly, he was in the police radar as he was wanted in several cases registered against him, under sub-divisional police stations under Mettupalayam.
A team of cops including Inspector of Police Velankanni Udaya Rekha and Sub Inspectors Rajaprabhu, Lenin Appadurai, and Special Branch Chief Constable Rajesh, who were conducting vehicle search on the Sirumugai to Mettupalayam Road were snubbed by Black Babu, who arrived on a bike.
The police officers caught hold of Babu in a filmy style dramatic chase, after he tried to flee the spot, produced him before the Mettupalayam court, and lodged him in Coimbatore central jail.
