Under the ‘Thalikku Thangam Thittam Scheme’, 285 beneficiaries receive gold coin under in Coimbatore

The Tamil Nadu Electricity and Prohibition and Excise Minister Senthil Balaji distributed gold coin to the beneficiaries under TN Government’s Thalikku Thangam Thittam Scheme and 11 received appointment orders.



Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Electricity & Prohibition and Excise Minister Senthil Balaji distributed gold coins to the beneficiaries under TN Government’s Thalikku Thangam Thittam Scheme and 11 received appointment orders at the event held in Corporation Kalaiarangam in RS Puram.

The TN government introduced the Thalikku Thangam Thittam Scheme, in view of supporting brides from socio-economically weaker sections of the society and women from challenging backgrounds, who have passed 10th class. The scheme is implemented on behalf of the Social Welfare Department as a means to support them for their marriages.



A program was organized at the Corporation Kalaiarangam on behalf of the District Social Welfare Department and Women's Rights Department to distribute gold coins under the scheme.



At the event, the Tamil Nadu Electricity & Prohibition and Excise Minister Senthil Balaji distributed the gold coins to 285 beneficiaries and appointment orders were handed over to 11 beneficiaries.



As many as 2,800 beneficiaries in Coimbatore received gold at an estimated cost of 21-crore.



The Minister then stated that 39 roads works have commenced at an estimate of 24-crore in various areas on Wednesday and the concerned authorities have been instructed to fast-track the road development work.

He said various measures are being taken on behalf of the district administration as a precautionary measure to control the spike in Covid infection in Coimbatore district. The minister informed that 100 Special Officers have been appointed in 100 wards. He said 37 Special Officers are appointed for all the 37 Town Panchayats and a slew of preventive measures are implemented to combat the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

He added that, the 10-year planning for The Siruvani Water Supply Scheme in Coimbatore will be funded and necessary steps will be taken to ensure uniform supply of drinking water.



Alleging the previous government of indulging in high expenditure, he held the ministers of the previous regime of irregularities in the books of account. Senthil Balaji stated that an inquiry would be conducted into the suez work after the final hearing of the irregularities.

As many as 8,955 new transformers have been installed by the electricity sector across Tamil Nadu and the work will be completed within the next 30 days.

An announcement has already been issued to set up 216 sub-stations, and the land acquisition for another 73 substations is underway. The minister informed that the process of land acquisition for the 216 substations stands completed and assured that very soon the substations will be available.



TASMAC bar tender has fetched revenue of 28-crores, which is more than the last regime, generating additional revenue of 12-crores for the state government. He said 13,000 people participated in the tender.

The Minister stated that, an interview would be held on Thursday for the DMK candidates who have filed petitions to contest in forthcoming local polls. The same would be forwarded to the apex after discussions with the allied parties.

He conveyed that plans have been formulated with a vision for Coimbatore and will continue to be implemented.
