The CCMC Commissioner Raja Gopal Sunkara announced that the street parking fare project for the major 30 roads has been called off after no request was received from eligible contractors.
Coimbatore: The collection of street parking fee plan that was to be implemented by Coimbatore Corporation has been dropped, the Corporation Commissioner issued a statement.
The Corporation proposed collection of fee for on-street parking on 30 major roads in Coimbatore that received strong opposition from various parties. The plan has now been called off, stated the Corporation Commissioner Raja Gopal Sunkara, after none of the eligible contractors expressed interest to execute the project.
The corporation had decided to execute the on-street parking facilities through a private company under a five-year agreement, with a decided parking fee for two-wheelers and four-wheelers. Similarly, one-hour and monthly rental charges were also fixed for parking in the corporation areas.
