A general curfew was in effect in Tamil Nadu from 10 pm on January 15 to 5 am on January 17, with all public transport being banned from operating in Tamil Nadu, including buses.
Coimbatore: On information that four Omni buses were operating illegally during the night curfew in Coimbatore, a fine of Rs.1 lakh was slapped on those owning the buses, apart from being advised not to drive illegally during the curfew.

But since some Omni buses had been distributing tickets online, a complaint was lodged with the Coimbatore Freight Liaison Commissioner. Based on this, a sudden audit was carried out by the Regional Transport Officers and Motor Vehicle Inspectors on the operation of these Omni buses. During the audit, it was revealed that 4 Omni buses were operating illegally and hence were subsequently fined Rs.1 lakh.
Coimbatore Freight Commissioner Umasakthi warned that stern action would be taken against those operating the buses in violation of the rules.
