Foresters and police are engaged in trapping a leopard that had strayed into residential areas near Kuniyamuthur.
Coimbatore: Forest officials and police have launched a hunt to trap a leopard that has reportedly strayed into a godown near Kuniyamuthur.
A few weeks ago, a leopard entered a college in the area and killed a dog, leaving the public shaken. Hence, the public demanded that the leopard be captured from the residential area and released back into the dense forest. According to the Forest Department, the leopard has not yet been trapped.
A security guard of a godown in the B K Pudur area became terrified when he opened the godown on Monday morning and heard a growling sound inside the godown. The guard immediately informed the police and the forest department, suspecting that a leopard could be lurking in the godown.
The police and foresters rushed to the godown and confirmed that there was a leopard inside the godown.
They are engaged in trapping the leopard to relocate it back into the forests.
