Tirupur: The The Knit Cloth Manufacturers Association (KNITCMA) has decided to hold a rail blockade on Tuesday in collaboration with the industries demanding to control the rising cotton and yarn costs.
An emergency consultation meeting of The Knit Cloth Manufacturers Association (KNITCMA) was held at Valipalayam.
A resolution was passed to hold a rail blockade at 10 am in collaboration with the industries to demand protection of the textile sector and control the spike in costs of raw materials including cotton and yarn.
The President of the Association Rathinasamy said that agitation is underway by stopping the production in Tirupur on behalf of Tirupur Exporters Association, to protest against the hike in cotton and yarn prices, with full backing from The Knit Cloth Manufacturers Association (KNITCMA).
Domestic and export garment manufacturing companies have been the worst affected by the rise in raw material prices. He said a rail blockade would be held tomorrow, to attract the attention of the centre to control the prices of cotton and yarn and protect the textile sector.
