The ‘Namma Ooru Modi Pongal Vizha’ was celebrated on behalf of Bharatiya Janata Party in Selvapuram in which 108 Pongal pots were placed and the function was marked with traditional art programs.
BJP state president Annamalai participated as the chief guest.
Stating that BJP was carrying the value of Pongal and our culture to the next generation, he informed that the PM also greeted the Tamils on Pongal. Replying to a question on the saffron-coloured poster of Thiruvalluvar, on behalf of DMK in Tirunelveli, he mentioned that DMK just realized the way of living of Thiruvalluvar in TN.
Annamalai stated that the defence department will give an explanation for not letting Tamil Nadu Government’s vehicle during the Republic Day function and assured that centre did not consider Velunachiyar or Chidambaram as national leaders.

Replying to a question on a recent comedy show, on a private television channel, Annamalai called it as the freedom of expression and said that it was against the norms of the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), which protects children. He said the remarks had been made in a deceitful manner and were approached legally.
Annamalai assured that BJP will win 300 seats in the forthcoming UP elections. Speaking on the recent security breach issue in Punjab, he said the removal of the Director General of Police and District Superintendent of Police in Punjab, made it clear that security had gone awry during the Prime Minister's visit and complete information would be revealed in the Supreme Court inquiry.
Further, Annamalai condemned the announcement of collection of parking fee for vehicles on 30 roads in Coimbatore and urged that the corporation administration should revoke the announcement. A protest is scheduled to take place on 21st objecting the parking fee and in case of inaction, Annamalai said.
He also criticised the ‘scientific explanation’ on the ‘scientific corruption’ and slurred that a committee has to be formed under Elon Musk to investigate the “Jaggery Meltdown” offered in Pongal package. Criticising Udhayanidhi as the ‘Crown Prince’, he said it was proof that the Tamil Nadu government had not fulfilled any of the 500 promises.
Annamalai said, “The BJP-AIADMK alliance is in good shape and the confusion is in the DMK-Congress alliance. Annamalai alleged Karnataka Congress leader D K Sivakumar for slandering him and is vehement on building a reservoir in Mekadatu. Annamalai added that BJP is strong in opposing the project.
