Coimbatore: The roads looked deserted, especially Kovai Kutralam was empty on occasion of ‘Kaanum Pongal’, the day dedicated to relaxing and enjoying, which is also the fourth and final day of the Pongal celebrations. The public was at home due to the full lockdown imposed to curb covid-19.
Tamil Thirunal Pongal is being celebrated in a simple manner due to various restrictions imposed in the wake of rising covid-19 infection this year. The ‘Kaanum Pongal’, a day exclusively for families, friends who meet and greet each other and enjoy the outdoors, was completely a low key celebration and all the places, especially Kovai Kutralam was empty due to lockdown imposed on Sunday.
Public was forced to observe festival at home, this year. People from various places other than Coimbatore visit Kovai Kutralam. This time, however, due to curfew and Pongal restrictions, all tourist attractions were closed and the falls were deserted without civilians.
