In the past 3 days more than 5 tonnes of Sugarcane has been exported to Sharjah from Coimbatore. Sugarcane from Madurai and Dindigul were booked and exported.
Coimbatore: While the Pongal festival is been celebrated across Tamil Nadu in a grand manner, there has been more demand witnessed for Sugarcane in Sharjah.
Aviation Sources said, "Sweet pongal and sugarcane are the two important things in Pongal festival. International flight services help to export various products which help Tamilians who live in various foreign countries to celebrate the festival.
Air Arabia airlines is operating flights between Coimbatore - Sharjah on all days. Each time on an average 2 to 3 tonnes of cargo is been loaded in this flight, depending upon the space availability.
Pongal celebration has helped to witness more Sugarcane cargo to be booked in Coimbatore -Sharjah flight. In the past 3 days more than 5 tonnes of sugarcane has been exported to Sharjah from Coimbatore. Sugarcane from Madurai and Dindigul were booked and exported.
