Balamurugan, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mettupalayam presided over the celebrations in which the local police gathered together at the Annur police station premises wearing the traditional dhoti and shirts while women constables wore saris and prepared Pongal in a new pot.
Later, they worshipped at the nearby Vinayaka temple and paid homage to the cows.
The police officers were enthralled with the bullock cart rides along with their children which were part of the traditional Pongal celebrations.
