Coimbatore: Thiagarajan, an IT worker from Amman nagar near Thondamuthur in Coimbatore, and his wife Swathi, (28), gave birth to a baby boy two months ago.
They named the baby Adhiran. Swathi, who was at home the day before yesterday, poured kerosene on the rubbish piled up outside as she held her baby in her arms. Then, unexpectedly a Swati's shawl caught fire and in the blink of an eye the fire spread to the child she was holding in her hand and to Swati. She raised an alarm and screamed in pain for help.

Swati is undergoing treatment and is battling for life. Thondamuthur police have registered a case and are investigating.
