Alandurai police are investigating the beating to death of a north state youth who tried to rob a house in the farm next to Alandurai in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: Alandurai police received a tip-off that the body of a man was found floating in the Chithirai Chavadi dam near Alandurai, Coimbatore.
During the police investigation, a youth from the north state who had come to Mani's house in the farm in the Alandurai Chithirai Chavadi area the night before, had tried to steal there and then Mani's son Viswanathan and son - in - law Sampath Kumar had grabbed the youth and tied him up.
They subsequently informed the Alandurai police. The police who arrived there apparently told them to hand over the person to the police station in the morning as he was drunk and left from there. But the family said that the youth escaped.
But the investigation has revealed that he was the one who was found dead in the dam at the Chithirai Chavadi. It was also revealed that the man was killed in the attack by four persons including Viswanathan and Sampath Kumar and his body was dumped at the Chithrai Chavadi Dam.
Police are investigating persons K Viswanathan (30), A Kaliyappan (56), K Sampath Kumar (41), K Duraisamy (50), S Karthi (31), P Ganesan (37), B Jayanathan (45), A Ponnusamy (52) and others from Chithiraichavadi R Jyotiraj (50), S Saravanakumar (44) from Boluvampatti who were arrested. An investigation is underway into the identity of the deceased.
