The Union Minister of State arrived at Coimbatore to participate in the inauguration of a medical college constructed in Tirupur, out of the 11 colleges built in Tamil Nadu, which the Prime Minister will inaugurate through video conferencing
Coimbatore: Union Minister of State arrived at Coimbatore for the inauguration of medical college in Tirupur on Wednesday.
The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will be inaugurating eleven medical colleges in Tamil Nadu through video conferencing. The Union Minister of State, L Murugan arrived at Coimbatore on Wednesday by air, to participate in the inauguration of the college in Tirupur.
Addressing the press here, Murugan called the day historic as the PM is offering 11 medical colleges to the state. The colleges are constructed at an estimated cost of ₹ 4,080-crores and 1,450 additional MBBS seats will be available to Tamil Nadu. He then informed, “The Semmozhi Tamil Research Centre has been opened today at an estimated cost of ₹ 20-crores. Ancient and Sangam literature has been placed for display at the Centre.”
He then added that the Prime Minister acknowledges the Tamil classic, Thirukkural every single time, and arrangements have been made to translate the Kurals (verses) into more than 100 foreign languages. He also reminisced that, Swami Vivekanandha’s birth anniversary, the 12th of January is celebrated as National Youth Day in India.
Further, on the question of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s announcement of observing Tamil New Year on 1st of the Thai month, Murugan stated that Tamil New Year will be observed on 1st of Chithirai, only.
The Union Minister said that apart from 11 medical colleges, the works are in progress to establish the AIIMS in TN. He informed that there is a time limit for that. He ensured that AIIMS will be established in Tamil Nadu and the public will get treatment at AIIMS.
Mentioning that Group 1 officers have been appointed at the Dhoordharshan Channel company, he left to Tirupur.
