Owners leased out shops owned by the Coimbatore Corporation

Field inspections conducted on the orders of the Corporation Commissioner have found that the shops owned by the Corporation in all the 5 Zones are not being run by the auctioneers but by substitutes.


Coimbatore: Field inspections have revealed that the shops owned by the Corporation in all the 5 Zones are not being run by the auctioneers but by alternative tenants. Further, no claim can be made to the Corporation regarding the shop. Individuals who rent out Corporation stores like this will benefit if they are given an opportunity to change the store license in their name. The West Zone of Coimbatore Corporation, Ward No.10, Mettupalayam Road, MGR wholesale vegetable market, both old and new, were not run by auctioneers, with 19 people in the old shops and 6 people in the new shops for a total of 25 people, are using the shops on rental basis.

By order of the Government, in the selection of unlicensed beneficiaries, the right to lease can be transferred in their name, on the basis of a one-time offer. For this, the applicant has to pay an advance, equal to the monthly lease amount for 12-months. Apart from this, they have to pay an amount equivalent to 12-months rent as a change of name charges.

On these basis, the above 25 persons submitted petitions for change of shop ownership, namely, with a guarantee of payment of rent, advance payment and change of name as determined by the Corporation, along with copies of the collective bargaining agreement and copies of the contract requesting change. Rs.57,38,264 / - has been charged as rent advance and change of name from the above 25 persons after considering the petitions.

Therefore, similarly, those who run corporation-owned shops in the East, West, South, North and Central Zones of the Corporation on lease basis can transfer the shop license in their own name as per Government norms. The application forms can be submitted by contacting the Assistant Revenue Officers at the Zonal Offices by filling in the relevant details and attaching the prescribed documents in the application form prepared by the Corporation for this purpose.

Raja Gopal Sunkara, the Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer, said that through this, the tenants can use the concession offered by the government to transfer the shop license in their name and get their legal recognition.

3. Copy of receipt of payment of shop rent arrears

4. Copy of Aadhar card

5. In case of legal heir, a copy of the death certificate and heir certificates.
