Police have registered a case against 9 people who freely roamed in Coimbatore for no reason, during complete curfew.
Coimbatore: Even as Covid-19 seems to be resurfacing fast in Tamil Nadu, the State Government has taken various measures to prevent the spread of the disease.
Night curfew has been enforced and implemented. Following this, a complete curfew was imposed throughout Tamil Nadu on Sunday. Public transport and shops were not allowed to operate. Drug stores and some essential requirement stores, as well as petrol pumps, were alone allowed to function.
The public was asked not to leave the house unnecessarily on curfew day and instructed to step out only for emergencies or essentials. They were warned that violations would result in action being taken on behalf of the police.
In Coimbatore, about 700 policemen were on duty at 47 checkpoints on Sunday. The police caught a hold of anyone who stepped out without a reason and registered a case against them under the Prevention of Infectious Diseases Act.
A case was filed against nine people who roamed outside the Singanallur and Peelamedu areas of Coimbatore without any reason during the curfew day.
