Coimbatore: Brunei is a small country situated on the island of Borneo, with two distinct sections surrounded by Malaysia and the South China Sea.
In spite of no direct flight services operating between Coimbatore and Brunei, post 'Covid-19' outbreak, under repatriation service, chartered flight services continued to be operated at regular intervals.
Thus far, 16 flights were operated between Brunei-Coimbatore which has helped more than 2,000 Indians to return back to their home country. In spite of the flight services being operated 16 times, not even one kilo of cargo has been either booked or received on the flight runs.
Aviation sources say, "Usually, whenever a new flight service is being provided in the international sector, especial under the repatriation service, some volume of cargo would be brought or loaded when the flight returns to the concerned destination. The Royal Brunei airlines which has operated 16 times thus far to Coimbatore has not brought or taken back any cargo (not even 1 kilo). Initially, this flight service was witnessed as a rare service. But after the first service, it has started to operate as a monthly service. Many enquiries come but till now, no cargo has been booked or received," added the sources.
