The Tamil Nadu Agricultural Association submitted a petition to the District Collector Sameeran demanding action against the Perur Revenue officer who had been acting vengeful against the association persons for complaining about sand smuggling.
Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural Association submitted a petition to the District Collector Sameeran demanding action against the Perur Revenue officer.

The Tamil Nadu Agricultural Association has submitted a petition to the Collectorate stating that the Perur Revenue Inspector, was threatening their organisation administrators, for rising voices against the sand smuggling in Vellimalai Pattinam Village.
Reportedly, the revenue inspector did not take any action, despite repeatedly informing him about the unlawful sand extraction, after which a complaint about the issue was filed with the Perur Tahsildar.
The petition read, "The Revenue Inspector has not taken any action despite repeated complaints about illegal sand extraction in Vellimalai Pattanam village in Perur taluk of Coimbatore district. A plea was raised with the Perur Tahsildar about the problem, he inspected and removed the carts involved in the sand theft.”

The petitioners now stated that the Perur Revenue Inspector, the VAO had been threatening the association persons using the sand truck owners seeking revenge. They requested that the District Collector take appropriate action against the VAO and the Revenue Inspector.
