In the wake of rising Covid cases, the frontline workers, health care workers, and people above 60-years of age are administered, the third jab of vaccine, the boosters starting from 10th January. With daily number of cases recorded at 500 per day currently in Coimbatore, the government has thus recommended inoculating the third dose of the vaccine, the boosters to the public.
The District Collector inaugurated the vaccination camp at Coimbatore Government Hospital. The District Collector said a total of 2,49,000 people including,85,554 health care workers, 96,762 frontline workers,72,000 over 60-years of age have been identified to receive booster doses. The district administration targets to inoculate 70,000 people by the end of January.
The Collector informed that 4,300 beds and another 5,000 oxygen beds are ready at the corona care centers in the Coimbatore district. He insisted that the public should strictly follow the Covid guidelines including wearing face masks, maintaining social distancing. He advised that the eligible persons should swiftly get their two doses of Covid vaccines.
