The Sunday full lockdown is being strictly followed in Pollachi town and the cops at the TN-Kerala border in Pollachi are taking on strict monitoring in order to prevent the spread of the Covid 19 virus, with increasing omicron cases in the city.
Pollachi: The state border in Pollachi town is being strictly monitored after the full lockdown implemented in the city by the state government.
Vehicles, other than essentials entering into the state at Tamil Nadu- Kerala borders in Pollachi are being redirected by the check post officers on Sunday, as the full-day curfew is active. The Government of Tamil Nadu has imposed various restrictions to curb the spread of coronavirus and omicron in Tamil Nadu.
A night curfew is imposed in Tamil Nadu from 10 pm to 5 am, followed by a full curfew on Sunday today. There are seven check posts at Gopalapuram, Meenakshipuram, and Nadupuni in Pollachi bordering Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Police are conducting vehicle audits at all the seven border check posts.
Only vehicles transporting essential goods are allowed within the limits. Further, medical and frontline workers are permitted if the relevant Identity Card is displayed. Other vehicles entering Pollachi from Kerala are being re-routed back to Kerala by the police.
Similarly, government and private buses from Kerala are stopped and returned along the border and curfew is now being fully observed.
