Chandrashekhar lodged a complaint with the Palladam police station stating he was swindled of money by making a false promise for his sister Jayapriya.
Chandrasekar is from K.N.Puram area next to Palladam in Tirupur has been looking for a job for his sister Jayapriya. Reportedly, Vijayakumar of Palladam Anna Nagar contacted Chandrashekhar, posed as a journalist, and promised of fetching a government job for Jayapriya with his acquaintance with the government officials.
Chandrasekar paid a lakh as a first in 2017, and ₹. 50,000 a few days later to Vijayakumar, but when contacted the latter reportedly avoided his phone calls. Vijayakumar has been delaying the payment or fetching jobs despite Chandrasekar following up with him for the past five years.
Chandrashekhar lodged a complaint with the Palladam police station on Sunday. Based on the complaint, the police brought Vijayakumar from Anna Nagar for questioning. Investigations revealed that Vijayakumar had cheated more than 20 people of Palladam, Udumalpet, and Sulur areas to the tune of ₹. 50-lakh by making promises of offering them a driver's job in the police, power board, and taluk office.
The police are also investigating whether he was involved in any other such scam.
